[CONFERENCE] Development & Implementation of policies for promotion of “Responsible business practices”
Experience in EU & Vietnamese Context: Participation of Businesses & Social organizations
1. Introduction about Responsible Business Practices:
Responsible business practice (RBP) is an important component in achieving the dual goals of economic growth and sustainable development, responsible business practices. Therefore, the United Nations has introduced guidelines and principles on Business & Human rights at global scale (See more about UNGPs) and aims to support countries in concretizing it into each national action plan (NAP).
As of October 2019, 25 countries have included responsible business issues in their national agendas. Among these countries, 23 countries have established NAP with specific goals
appropriate to their national context. In Southeast Asia, Thailand is the first country to develop NAP on Business & Human rights (September 2019, updated version in 2022).
In Vietnam, the Prime Minister issued Decision 843/QD-TTg 2023 on July 14, 2023, to circulate the NAP to finalize policies and laws to promote responsible business practices in Vietnam in the
period of 2023-2027.
